rage tri run + summary (1.5k/40k/10k)

fun event. didn’t swim as fast as I could have. will plan to start closer to the front next time & pretreat goggles (oversight). T1 was slower than it should have been - fighting with old surfing wetsuit. will shorten arms & legs and apply more pam next time. Once on the bike, I gained ground. Lots of rabbits to chase & passing people throughout. T2 was excellent - quick. Used up a lot of gas on the bike tho & the run was a challenge. I need to be more disciplined about training the run, as I’ve run much faster 10k times at this weight. Experienced some abdominal cramping, which was a first. Not bowel problem - felt like side stitch but below lungs. After walking 20 seconds, it passed.

I’ll definitely do this again. finish time was 2:50:14 (unofficial).

All around that’s an awesome race… 20+mph then an 8:24/mile pace for a 10k… you killed it man!

:+) thanks! I have no frame of reference & there were people on the run from other distances that started earlier, so I don’t really have a clue how I finished in my age group for the olympic. thanks for all the encouragement!

Great job! Maybe in a couple of years of training I can hope to come close to those times. When is your 1/2 ironman? Keep it up!!

pharmer, you’d be surprised what you can do if you stick to your plan - it wont take years. half-iron is exactly what I’d like to do next. probably will do silverman half 11/9 since its in my back yard and hopefully another olympic/intermediate tri sometime over the summer in addition to the bike events. I’m pretty encouraged by the results because I KNOW I can swim faster than that & pretty sure I can run faster if I save a little bit on the bike. Need to take a look at my training plan to see what dates I’m going to plan around…
